Credit amount:

• For MDs, West Virginia requires 50 Category 1 CME hours per licensure cycle.
• For DOs, West Virginia requires 32 CME hours per licensure cycle, 16 hours of which must be AOA Category 1A or 1B CME.

Topics:

• For MDs, 30 CME hours in physician’s area or areas of specialty, as well as 3-hour board-approved CME in drug diversion training and best-practice prescribing of controlled substances.
• For DOs, 3-hour board-approved CME on the topic of controlled substances is required for any licensee who has prescribed, administered or dispensed a controlled substance during the last two-year licensing period.

One-time requirement for two credits in end-of-life care, and pain management, and 30 credits for physician's designated specialty
